We are trying to implement a PHM program for our hydro generation assets.
Our first steps will be to perform FMEA and Risk Analysis, but we may need some kind of external consulting for the first steps. Does anyone know a consultant that might work in this kind of activity?

When it comes to implementing a PHM (Prognostics and Health Management) program for hydro generation assets, conducting a thorough FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and Risk Analysis is indeed a crucial first step. These analyses help identify potential failure modes, their causes, effects, and likelihood of occurrence, which is essential for developing an effective PHM strategy.

Considering that you may need external consulting for these initial steps, it’s important to find a reputable consultant with expertise in PHM for hydro generation assets. Here are a few suggestions on where you might find a consultant for this kind of activity:

Industry Associations: Many industry associations related to hydro generation or energy management have a directory of consultants or service providers that specialize in different aspects of the industry, including PHM. You can explore their websites or reach out to them directly for recommendations.

Consulting Firms: There are consulting firms that specialize in reliability engineering, asset management, and PHM for various industries, including energy and power. You can conduct a search online or ask for referrals from colleagues or industry contacts for reputable consulting firms that offer PHM services.

Online Platforms: There are online platforms that connect businesses with consultants and experts in various fields. You can search for PHM consultants or reliability engineers on these platforms and review their profiles, qualifications, and client feedback to find a suitable consultant.

Research Institutes or Universities: Some research institutes or universities have experts in PHM for energy systems, including hydro generation assets. You can explore their websites or reach out to them for recommendations on consultants or researchers who can provide consulting services.

Networking and Industry Events: Attending industry events, conferences, and networking events related to hydro generation or energy management can be a great way to connect with experts in the field, including consultants who specialize in PHM. You can network with other professionals, ask for recommendations, and collect business cards for potential consulting partnerships.

When selecting a consultant, make sure to thoroughly evaluate their qualifications, experience, and expertise in PHM for hydro generation assets. Request references and review their past work to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to guide you through the FMEA and Risk Analysis process effectively. Additionally, consider factors such as their availability, budget, and communication style to ensure a successful consulting engagement for your PHM program implementation.
